Julie Sloat is senior vice president and treasurer, responsible for American Electric Power's treasury activities.

Previously, she was vice president – Regulatory Case Management, with responsibility for AEP's central regulatory case management and support activities inclusive of rate activity in the 11 states in which AEP operates and FERC regulatory filings.

She joined Regulatory Services in 2009. Prior to that, she was treasurer and vice president - Investor Relations, responsible for treasury operations and the planning and execution of AEP's corporate financing programs, including debt, bond and equity instruments, and banking relationships. She was also responsible for communicating the company’s financial strategy to AEP’s current and potential shareholders, and enhancing AEP’s profile in the investment community.

Before that, she was vice president - Investor Relations and Strategic Initiatives, responsible for the development of the strategic plan, strategic studies, corporate development, and mergers and acquisition analysis, in addition to the investor relations program.
She joined AEP’s Credit Risk Management department in 1999 and moved to the company’s Investor Relations department a year later. She was named vice president - Investor Relations in 2004.

In addition to her AEP career, Sloat was vice president of Corporate Finance and Investor Relations at Tween Brands, Inc., in 2008, where she was responsible for all financial planning and analysis, store finance, treasury, risk management and investor relations functions. She was employed by Bank One from 1995 to 1999, serving as a bank debt underwriter and buy-side equity analyst covering the electric utilities sector. She worked for M&T Mortgage Corp., a subsidiary of M&T Bank Corp., from 1993 to 1995.

Sloat earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a double major in finance and economics from The Ohio State University (OSU). In 1999, she received a master’s degree in business administration from OSU and was the recipient of the Faculty Recognition Academic Excellence Award and the Weidler Scholar Award for placing in the top 15 percent of her class.

She served as a board member for The Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Council from 2010 to 2012.
